Terms of service
Effective July 10, 2026
These are the terms for using Tell Me When Down (“the service”), written to be actually readable. By creating an account you agree to them.
What the service is
We monitor web applications you point us at: uptime, TLS certificates, security headers, and related checks, with email alerts when something changes. Plans, limits, and prices are listed on the pricing page.
Only monitor what's yours
You may only add sites and apps that you own or have explicit permission to monitor. Deeper checks that probe for misconfigurations run only against apps whose ownership you've verified. Using the service to scan, probe, or gather information about systems you don't control is prohibited and will get your account terminated.
Your account
Keep your credentials to yourself; you're responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us right away if you think it's been compromised. You must be legally able to enter into this agreement to use the service.
Paid plans and billing
Paid plans bill through Stripe on a recurring basis until canceled. You can cancel any time; your plan stays active until the end of the period you've paid for. If a payment fails and stays unpaid, we may downgrade the account to the free plan after a grace period.
What we promise — and don't
We work hard to make monitoring reliable, including running checks from multiple regions and monitoring our own workers. But monitoring is inherently best-effort: we do notguarantee that every incident will be detected or that every alert will arrive. The service is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. Don't use it as your only safeguard for anything where a missed alert would be catastrophic.
Limits on liability
To the maximum extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim arising from the service is capped at the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We're not liable for indirect damages — lost revenue, lost data, or losses caused by downtime of your own applications, whether or not we alerted you to it.
Fair use
Don't abuse the service: no reselling without an agreement, no attempts to overload or reverse-engineer it, no using it to send spam or to harm others. We may set reasonable technical limits (check frequency, app counts) per plan.
Ending things
You can delete your account whenever you like, which deletes your data as described in the privacy policy. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice where practical.
Changes
We may update these terms as the service evolves. For meaningful changes we'll email account holders before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the updated terms.
